WHAT WE OFFER
Services

Medical Footcare Treatment
Initial Assessment & Treatment
The initial appointment includes a complete medical history, nursing assessments, footwear inspections (if required), nursing diagnosis and personalized plan of care. This also includes the first treatment for your feet (antimicrobial foot soak (in clinic setting only), medical footcare treatment, diabetic footcare, ingrown toenail care, thick toenails, corns and callus removal etc.). The treatment will end with a light massage and a comforting warm towel. The nurse will treat anything she is able to in the time allotted for the appointment.
Follow Up Medical Footcare Treatment
At your initial assessment, we recommend a care plan for your specific foot problems (typically every 6-8 weeks to keep your feet healthy and free from complications). At your follow up treatment, any care required and able to be performed in the time allotted will be completed.
Fingernail Trim & File – Available for extra cost only in addition to a footcare treatment
*Please note – our nurses do not apply polish. Foot soak is only provided in home if the patient provides their own basin/supplies (for infection control)

AT home footcare solutions
We sell a wide variety of at home products that will compliment your routine footcare services including clinically proven foam lotions, anti-fungal solutions, diabetic socks, offloading footcare products, and more!

Laser Treatment for Plantar Warts
The FOX Laser is a revolutionary podiatry device that offers a modern alternative to traditional invasive methods. We are the only clinic in the area providing this amazingly successful treatment!
Traditional wart treatments are typically painful, require down time, and weeks upon weeks of treatment. The FOX laser treatment can often rid of warts within only a few treatments!
Laser treatment is a non-invasive technique that does not damage adjacent skin, is safe, and requires no downtime after treatment.
Pulsed laser radiation targets the blood vessels sustaining the wart. Upon intense laser irradiation, a wart should dry out and its entire capillary chains fully coagulated.
Coagulation is a non-ablative treatment, achieved by applying focused laser radiation that dry out the wart by coagulating its capillaries. Laser radiation eradicates the HPV virus since laser radiation causes intense heat at a sub dermis level.
*Results will vary from person to person as everyone reacts differently to all treatments.*

WHAT TO EXPECT
Health & Safety
You can rest assured that when you visit Sole Renewal Footcare & Wellness, all tools used during your treatment remain sterile until time of use. We follow Public Health Ontario guidelines for reprocessing of foot care equipment. This means that we use a steam sterilizing autoclave and test each individual pouch using indicators for sterility prior to each use.
+ IN-CLINIC SANITATION
- As always, your nurse will wash their hands with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds before and after your treatment and perform hand sanitization as needed.
- Your nurse will don a mask throughout your entire treatment.
- All contact areas of the clinic (including but not limited to chairs, desks, pens/stylus’, door handles, washroom, treatment rooms/equipment used, payment machine) are sanitized with medical grade disinfectant spray or wipes between each patient.
+ HOME VISIT SANITATION
- All tools used for your treatment are sterile until time of use and are packaged in sets individually labelled for each patient for their appointment to prevent the nurse from having to touch multiple items in tool-box.
- Disposable drapes are used to catch debris during treatment and the nurse will disinfect all areas she touches in the area of treatment prior to leaving your home.
- All equipment is disinfected prior to entering your home, and prior to packing up tool box at the end of your treatment.
- All garbage is gathered into the bag in which your sterile tools were packaged in on arrival. This bag will be disposed of in your garbage at your home, please have this accessible for after treatment.
- The nurse will request to wash her hands prior to and after your treatment. Please have liquid soap and paper towel available for the nurse to use. Use of bar soap to wash or patient’s towels to dry is not acceptable due to health risks.

FYI
Insurance Information for Patients
Important note
Nursing Footcare Services are NOT covered by OHIP, but may be covered through some third party Insurance, Extended Health Insurance Plans, Veteran Affairs (Blue Cross), and/or may be used for medical income tax health deduction purposes.
Our clinic does not bill directly to insurance companies (except VA), but a receipt will be provided to you after payment to submit for reimbursement.
WHAT TO ASK YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY
If you are calling your insurance company to inquire about coverage, please ensure you state the service provided is “Footcare service provided by an Advanced Footcare Nurse” and ask whether you require a referral from your doctor.
Also ask them where to submit your claim under (e.g. Nursing Services, Podiatry, etc)
Please note: We are NOT Chiropodists or Podiatrists; however, sometimes our claims are submitted under Podiatry, depending on the insurance company and policy.
IF YOU ARE DENIED INSURANCE COVERAGE
There are still a number of insurance companies that are not recognizing nurses as footcare providers, despite our education. You may submit a complaint to the OmbudService for Life and Health Insurance (OHLI) at the link below.
Trust us, this is just as frustrating as it is for you, as we know how invaluable the services we provide are for our patients! Sometimes, it is just a matter of getting a prescription from your doctor for the service.
