What is an Advanced Foot Care Nurse?

An Advanced Foot Care Nurse is a RPN/RN that has taken extensive training in skin and nail conditions of the foot, as well as diabetic feet and wound care. They are fully qualified to assess and manage foot skin and toenail concerns. Our nurses can do everything that a Chiropodist can, minus soft tissue and nail surgery!

A Nurse and her Foot Care Tools

Advanced nursing footcare is “non-invasive” which means that the nurse does not perform any treatment below the second layer of skin. The professional nurse is trained to holistically assess the feet and lower extremities. Based on their nursing assessment, they determine the care required and provide treatment or refer to another health care professional for treatment as necessary. They can manage: Corns, Callus/Dry/Cracked Skin, Ingrown Toenails, Toenail Fungus/Athlete's Foot, Diabetic Foot Care, Plantar Warts, Minor Wounds, Involuted Toenails & Thickened Nails.
